Just before Green Day took off on their big tour supporting the Revolution Radio album, they decided to do a smaller run of shows, including TV appearances. They wanted to have a pawn shop feel to their stage look, so they reached out to Mojotone, requesting a bunch of random cabinets that looked like they had been amps found in pawn shops. The ones where you could see a chassis or faceplate needed to have some sort of chassis to make the amp look real, as well as a functioning pilot light. I helped with the assembly and designing of some of the custom faceplates. Instead of putting amp names like “Deluxe Reverb,” each one had a Green Day song reference as the amplifier model, using various fonts that matched the Green Day album they were from.
